Music For the Mind 2014

Love Action Project together with the 50for50 initiative, organised a 3-day music showcase “Music for the Mind” to raise funds and create awareness on Mental Illness for Singapore Association for Mental Health (SAMH).

During the showcase, popular local acts like Jack and Rai, and Singapore Char Siew Bao performed for the audience as they cozied up on comfy doob Bean Bags (of course). The event was also graced by former MP Lim Hwee Hua.

More than one in 10 people in Singapore will be stricken by mental illness in their lifetime, according to the Singapore Mental Health Study. Often, mental illness strikes the young; majority of mental illnesses occurred by 29 years of age. Many face depression, the commonest mental illness here. Others may be affected by alcohol abuse or obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), an anxiety affliction characterized by obsessions, compulsive rituals, as well as intrusive thoughts and impulses.

Music For the Mind 2014 hopes in raising awareness for mental illness, to remove the stigma of mental health patients. For more info visit the SAMH website at http://www.samhealth.org.sg/.
